At GF Corys, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of talent and providing the skills needed for young minds to thrive. We have numerous programs to support this aim within the organization, and most recently, we welcomed three Emirati students from the Higher Colleges of Technology to complete a seven-week internship with us. While embedded with us, they completed several different modules, covering extrusion, quality control, maintenance, cooling operations, HSE, and concepts such as 5S and lean manufacturing. A fully immersive program, the objectives of this apprenticeship are twofold: Firstly, we want to support local Emirati talent with a technical background to gain a deeper understanding of the processes and activities associated with the manufacturing of pipes and fittings. In addition, we believe it’s crucial to impart the knowledge and skills that are required in order to be effective in a manufacturing environment. Beyond mastering these skills, it’s also important to recognize the work done by others to mentor and guide these students, sharing their valuable industry insights and expertise. We’d like to extend a big thank you to Ajukumar Raveendran (Head of Production), Sanil Varughese (QHSE Manager), Dinesh Itty (Operations & Technical Development Manager), Joseph Roy (Head of Unit – Maintenance), Sogy Thomas (Head of Unit – Fabrication) along with other colleagues from their teams, for their time and effort during the program. Thank you also to Rashed Waleed, HR & Emiratization Officer – Green Coast Enterprises for his invaluable support in helping to make the program such a success. We will be running more of these initiatives and look forward to hosting a new intake of students in the very near future. Here are some feedback from our interns: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the invaluable opportunity to be a part of the GF Corys team during my internship. This experience has been immensely enriching, enabling me to gain practical insights into the dynamic world of pipe production and the broader industrial processes. Throughout my time at GF Corys, I have been fortunate to work alongside dedicated professionals who have generously shared their knowledge and expertise. From understanding different pipe types and manufacturing processes to engaging in quality control testing and problem-solving, each experience has contributed significantly to my personal and professional growth. Your commitment to fostering a safe, innovative, and collaborative environment has been a driving force behind my positive experience. Once again, thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this remarkable journey. I leave GF Corys with a newfound passion for the industry and a deep appreciation for the values and principles that drive your company.” – Essa Albalooshi “My internship at GF Corys has been an enriching and enlightening journey. The hands-on experience I gained, coupled with the collaborative work environment, has significantly boosted my confidence in applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. The positive atmosphere and teamwork exhibited by everyone at GF Corys made my internship a memorable and enjoyable experience.” – Ahmad Almarri “I learned many things throughout my time with GF Corys, such as processes for the machines and material testing, etc. Though I thought that these may not be easy subjects to learn in the beginning, over time I gained more confidence and was able to prove my ability. All the employees helped and supported me every step of the way, making me feel that I am a part of the company and not an intern. This gave me more confidence throughout my internship journey.” – Ahmad Adel Abdulla Mubarak Algylani
